What is benefit gained by jQuery's developer by building Jquery?
JQuery library is free to use, so where is the benefit for Jquery's developer from building JQuery? He just wasting money from hosting server and wasting time from building JQuery...

Some people are nice to them and give them money for the gracious work they made for everyone ...
Open source means free to use but sometimes it doesn't hurt to be thankful even if you're not asked to.

Believe it or not, that guy actually earned quite a reasonable amount of money. Though it may seem like he did not, he actually did.

There are good fellows who wants to share their work to Community and let them contribute. There are many open source projects running on GitHub.
