java is important but for me all programmers must know HTML because you can do all with it

going In a different direction now would be good. java is just more of the same. html+css+js, Phyton or c#. the last two mainly because they have been heavily influenced by functional programming languages like haskell (since java 8 there are lambdas too, but they are still lacking a bit)

however that's heavily dependent on the goal you want to achieve and java has its advantages too (the whole spring framework e.g.)
