The "best" is largely subjective depending on your needs, your experience, and your ability to learn.
The most widely used programming language by astronomers seems to be Python, though other languages like C/C++, Fortran are also used.
And A lot of people also use Matlab and R.

I hear that Astronomers do a lot of
- simulation stuff ( c++ is good for it)
- Big data ( python and R good for it)
- Super computing ( Fortran, C, C++ )
Sometimes they also do
- Embedded stuff ( Embedded C, C/C++)
- Networking (python, C/C++)
