Tagging Users in the Discussion Comments
My understanding that to tag other users, I would use the @ symbol. Such as @BroFar. But it doesn't seem to work. At least not in the web interface. Does this work on other platforms? Does it only work in comments? Questions? Or only on iOS or Android?

It should work but it's bugged. To me it seems to work only sporadically... Jerry Hobby

great observation. It's in settings/push notifications.
Everything's checked there for me, but yes, maybe that's influencing the @ behavior for other users.

I don't think that the individual notification settings are the cause. It will sometimes work for a given user, sometimes not – without any of the parties changing their settings.
I have reported this bug a few times before.

@ works sporadically for me, too. Also, initally, I thought following somebody adds it to the @ list, but it also seem to add people who viewed the topic. Now I'm not sure how it behaves. It's a hit or miss thing...

Back when I was using the Android app, there was an option in the app settings that allows me to choose whether mentions are included in the incoming notifications. When I disable it, anyone can try to mention me, and I don't have to have the notification, a bit kind of privacy somehow :)
Perhaps the person you mentioned disabled it in the their app settings also?

My understanding is that you can ping somebody using @ if they are already involved in the discussion, or you are following them / they are following you.
