How to improve

I've just recently finished the python course but I am still bad at typing a code down. how do I improve this do I read books on python?

Learning by doing is the way to go here. Start with a little practice project (if you need help with details you can still ask in the forums). Also try to help others, who ask questions here. Read the codes of more experienced coders and pick up Python idioms. I always recommend projecteuler, if you want to practice solving problems (primarily math related ones) in general.

I just started reading it and am already thrilled. It seems to be a very good way to start out programming 'for real'.
