Is self taught programming better that school

am a kind of person that believe it is better to learn something on your own but i need you opinion on this matter

I say not for your first language, because the one thing that can't be directly learned is programming style; only picked up. Learning style from a professional source is likely the best. However, past that, learn all the languages you can!

i agree with @keto. i can tell you from firsthand experience. started learning java by myself. i thought i was doing really good. then i picked a class on programming and my code is just so much more organized and designed in an actual object oriented way

self taught looks exiting, but in you cant gain the whole science from by yourself.
that is the role of school is to complete the vision for you for example the school can give you the theoretical part and you find the practical part this my opinion.i hope that was helpful for you.
