if you learn one language perfectly then you can learn any languages in short time. it is no matter how many languages you know the only important think is to improving your logical skill and implement that in any language.

I once met a IT graduate, he said to me that you can either master 2 languages but it is hard to keep up if you master all as they say Quality over Quantity :)

I'm gonna say it is. Although you will get the most of being a ninja, wizard or whatnot with one or two languages, you can still profit from learning more than just these.

If you ever find yourself at a Python conference and wonder why everyone is buying books on Haskell, you now know why: Learning Haskell will make you a better Python programmer. To stay with the Python example, you probably should also know C, if you are using cpython.

In my opinion the main syntax differs from language to language ,but how you implement your logic remains same . so if u know one language perfectly then you can easily relate and learn the syntax of other languages

nonsense. first u have to think in terms of technology and not language. second u have to def ur it interests within technology, then seek for language in demand trends in given technology. ex: I don't do www but structural and OO programming. my choice is C (mother of all tongues - a must for pros) as solid background and philosophy, then Java, python and JavaScript. focus, focus, focus. btw: really a pity Solo omitted ANSI C a key for modern programming

Learning multiple programming languages is much better .. every language adds one dimension to your general understanding and knowledge of programming but it is almost impossible to be skilful in all of them

Java runs on all platforms and can be used to program almost anything. choose java and stick to it.
