Personally I think python is good candidate, it has a fair number of job opportunities and makes a very decent salery per year. Yet I do not think this is the VERY BEST but it's close.

The problem with JAVA being the best is they not very many jobs a year are being given out. It is also a fairly difficult thing to learn. I'm not saying it isn't the best but I'm not saying it is either.

if you thinking right now, i would say master PHP and make various web apps and games. (free lancing)......If you need a proper job using one program, then learn any one eg Java, C++, C# with at least one DB (SQL o ORACLE).

if you thinking about the future, then learn cloud programming and cloud security.
