That's wrong, PHP is alive in 2017 and there are many large projects. And well-programmed PHP 7 applications are faster than Django and Python. The salary also depends a lot on the city and industry. There are PHP programmers for 60k to 90k dollars per year here in Germany. Many Python, Java, C# and C++ jobs have less salary. It's also easy to produce legacy code in Python or C++ if you don't what you're doing.

Jeth, how about Facebook? They didn't drop it out. They started with Python. And their core is not written in Python. What if you need safe multi-threading in Python? I wouldn't say Python or PHP are better than the other. They have advantages and disadvantages. You can write some parts in Python and what needs to be executed fast you can write in PHP.

PHP is clumsy outdated language. Reasons why people use it in 2017 - huge amount of legacy code and easy learning curve. It is good only for a small projects, because working with complex systems based on PHP is nothing but a big pain in the ass. Also PHP developers have least salary among any other programmers with same skill llevel. So if you want to stuck in the bottom - welcome to PHP developer job, there is always a lot of vacancies here.

Thank you for all the answers. I was surprised of the speed of Django and am surprised that php should be faster.
