Just found out dad knew COBOL. Programming has always been in my blood. Not sure what to feel.

@Maz, here in India, we have two Premier Education Boards for School Education 1. CBSE - They start with BASIC programming and go up to C++ 2. ICSE - These guys starts with MS-LOGO and then start Java Programming from 5th standard

I don't consider C vintage at all. It's an awesome language. It will never fully die because it's simple and small -- and Linus still uses it AFAIK.

@Jamie I agree, C is a great language to program with. It has been kept up to date. Yet it still is one of the oldest languages.

@Jamie, you are absolutely right, 'C' is the language which was solely written for developing secure, multi-user OS UNIX. It also laid foundation for most of the languages that are today used. @Manual also rightly asserted 'C' need to be updated as we see in case of C++ which is continuously being updated.

@Devender C is being continuously updated. The latest standard released was C11. If C is updated less frequently you must remember that C's library is also a lot smaller than most other languages. http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/
