8051 family controller :-
1. CISC based architecture
2. less number of register
3. multiple instruction sizes and formats.
4. it doesn't have inbuilt EEPROM, ADC. it's required ADC IC.
5. Generally, few version of 8051 family supports UART only.
6. instructions take a varying amount of cycle time. so, pipelining is difficult.
AVR family controller :-
1. RISC based architecture
2. More number of register
3. instruction of same set with formats.
4. it's having inbuilt EEPROM, ADC.
5. supports SPI, UART and I2C.
6. instruction take one cycle time. so, pipelining is easy.
