BTW, i don't use social media, the only thing that control me is the system. :3

Don't use Facebook if you want to keep your privacy, but trust me... there is always a way to know your personal informations, especially in services like Facebook and Google, i just mean... there is no need to know what you do while you navigate on Facebook to take +30 related advertisment in your Home Page.

Do you know that your keyboard also might send anonymous feedback to *company of your keyboard* for "improve the quality".

Most of things you using in this moment might be "controlled" from other people, don't worry too much about it, remember that tecnologies are not the only way to know your interests. ^^

@Michael, it's the same story like: "XBOX360 spy their clients from Kinect" or "Samsung from Smart TV", there is many alarmism for everything, Internet articles and Tv Media create further alarmism for nothing in most cases.

In short, the picture of your face should be used to see your "reaction" while you navigate on Facebook and create related advertisment or "improve the quality of the service". ;)

No one can say to be completely safe from this, but we can't worry too much about it, as i already wrote... there is always a way to know our interests.

Same thoughts as @QuentinJanuel. People who freak out are people who were somehow unaware that the moment you post a piece of information online, it gets widespread and there is no regulation as to how that specific piece of information would be interpreted (either as originally intended, or taken out of context to be (mis)used against you and your profit).

I may still need someone to enlighten me on why sites collecting information and data regarding what I like, when my birthday falls on, what I spoke about on a specific topic, is harmful towards me. Is this all just about ads lol? I don't get this whole "ruining my privacy" thing, that seemingly everyone is so afraid about. Those things that I shared, I share towards the world with no boundaries intended, and I can walk straight with my head up even if people have to judge me by my preferences. My information being disclosed to public does not invoke a sense of weakness in me. ATOW, it just sounds so absurd and it feels like people are being paranoid and too self-conscious over organisations spying on us through the net.

Privacy is the ability to determine that your private stuff stays private. When you are posting your private stuff online to public, you (and not anyone else) are ruining your own privacy.

Explain to me why exactly Facebook would want to look through your webcam? All they'd see is a picture of your face and I'm sure they have plenty of them already...

I have a funny history with Facebook. I created an account when I first heard of it (8 years back) but I forgot login details (phone number too). Then, my friend created an account for me and I deleted it. Recently, I created an account but I stopped using it. So, I guess I won't have any problem.

Anyways, Facebook is already collecting private data from it's users. So, if what you said is correct, it's a bad idea but people addicted to it won't care.

when you insert your data via internet wherein like cloud, email or social media your privacy must be ruined. there are some authorities who buy public personal data and they can tell yourself more than your close one knows about you by analysing your likes and activities.

Facebook already spies on people that is not something new. They have connections to the NSA and the FBI, who are actively using FB data to profile americans and would be "terrorists".

You can't have Facebook and privacy together while using Facebook your Data is the product; use the service if it is worth it; the choice is yours; I personally use Google services as it improves my productivity and I trust them with my data in return of improved services and transparent policies.

Don't like FB policy, don't use FB. Simple or did I miss something. You can live without it. I've gone without FB, Twitter, Google, and MS products for years and amazingly it hasn't killed me (not that they could spy on me with my security). Point is your info is sold/used for advertising which pays for those services. You're not entitled to Facebook.
