What is the best way to save the user id on your web site?

I wanna create a new E-learing website using php (Framework symfony) and need your suggestions about safe way to save user info (specially his Id) thanks ☺

If merely save user id only, session can serve the purpose.
If need to display or update respective user related data, you need database access.

Save your data in a database, Sololearn provides a pretty good tutorial on SQL if you need help.
