Don't mix up php and jsp. php is a server side language, on the other hand jsp stands for java server page. Actually jsp is a client side tool/view, where you can use html, css, js, and java(with jstl-java standard tag library) also. So when it comes to choose a lanuage php or java(for jsp), i would suggest to go for php.
