What is the relevant language for today's market?

I don't disagree with you Rasool. I'm not saying Python isn't easier, I'm just saying it's not as relevant compared to Java. My only point with that is that you shouldn't learn it solely because it's easier, even if you're a beginner. Besides, if you start with one of the C based languages that maintains similar syntax, that makes it a lot easier to learn the others and understand them better. Python syntax is just... eh. :D

With that being said, this is my 100% completely bias opinion based upon my own life experiences. I grew up in the 80s/90s, so first language I learned was C++, then C, and then Basic/VB/Delphi/Python (yes, I said python :P )/etc...

@Mason I disagree. Software development is a lot more profitable in my opinion. However, considering that you own the company, I don't doubt you're making a lot of money off of it. That's just the name of business. Either way, congrats on your success with it, I'm certainly not downplaying how great your success it.

I'm a software developer, so yes, I'm bias toward what I specialize in, just as you are. The software that I create and sell to businesses are licensed to each seat, so on simple software I easily generate thousands a month off just one company and one piece of software.

In conclusion, money is made from any end of the spectrum, but it's strongly based upon how hard you're willing to work and how bad you want to succeed.

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, BootStrap, JQuery. And you don't have to learn the full languages either just become familiar with them. They are all designed to blend together.

A great site to learn all of these for free and get certified as a Frontend Developer is FreeCodeCamp.com, it is all free. It is a nonprofit that will help you greatly. They just ask that you donate in return (but you dont have to).

@Rasool If you want to be better, it's actually a simple formula. Be the hardest working person in the room. You'll inevitable accomplish many great things, and inevitably become better at your craft. Not only that, but if you're the hardest working person in the room, it doesn't matter what skills they do or don't have.

@Netkos Thats awesome, we are actually based out of Colorado. But I completly agree that any part will make money in the tech industry. We have just had better luck with websites I guess, although we do have an app development department.

Java is the most popular and widely used language in the world. If you're wanting to know what's the most relevant, then it's Java. However, that doesn't mean other languages aren't relevant, so I would recommend learning C# and C++ also.

Don't learn something simply because it's easier to learn. That's like me learning Spanish before I move to Germany because Spanish is easier to learn. If you're going to Germany, learn German, not Spanish. Not learning anything at all is easier than learning something, but that doesn't make it the right answer.

It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to make the most money I would personally go with web design because people will always need new or repaired websites for their businesses.

So I would learn HTML, CSS, BootStrap, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and some JQuery. Learning all of these will put you a step ahead of everyone too. You will certainly make more money doing this.

I personally own a Frontend/Backend Development company and we make way more money on websites then we do with apps or games.

@Natkos Its all good so was I. Whoa thats crazy though because we are actually in the northern part of Colorado Springs but we might end up moving to Denver for bigger office spaces and we are closer to corporations that hire us. Colorado is very beautiful, but I do feel like in that past few years it has gotten very crowded.

thanks everyone for posting suggestions on what programs to learn. I am presently re-freshing my HTML skills now. Next I want to learn more of CSS, then JavaScript. These are all skills I learned in college, but once I graduated I could not find work without experience, and forgot my skills over the years. I have a job now, but it is not mentally stimulating, so I am glad t o have found this site.
