Is learning c++ worth it?

I want to be a game developer. Do I need to learn c++?

C++ is worth learning in many aspects but I am not sure about game development, as @aklex said, use c# with unity or lua with corona sdk & cryengine, Lua is very good programming language which uses c# library and you can learn it easily. (Similar to Python & Ruby)

Learning C++ can be worth it. But it isn't required. You can learn C# instead and use Unity like a lot of indie devs do. Cryengine with lua and c++ is also a pretty good combination

Depends. If you want OOP then go for Java, if Java is too hard for you then go for C++ OOP. There are many other programming languages too for creating games, but Java and C++ are the best ones. PaperTronics
