I downloaded the newest version or the se for windows but when I use the command prompt to check if it worked it says that it is not recognized as an external or internal command.help plz???

After installing the JDK you should Set JAVA_HOME Seting JAVA_HOME: Right click My Computer or This PC and select Properties. On the Advanced tab, select Environment Variables, and then edit JAVA_HOME to point to where the JDK software is located, for example, C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_77
