Similarities Between CSS and JavaScript or jQuery

Question

Can someone pin-point the glaring similarities between CSS on one hand, and JavaScript/jQuery on the other hand? I am saying this in relation to the animating strength of both languages. I mean in the areas of animation.

Did CSS learn from jQuery or the other way round? My question may look so foolish but I have a reason for that.

JQUERY IS JAVASCRIPT'S LIBRARY
SO IT'S SURELY FROM JAVASCRIPT
AND JAVASCRIPT SELECTOR IS FROM CSS
