Is there any open source projects a non expert programmer can contribute to?

I'm just learning programming, not an expert, but it would be amazing to contribute to some open source project.. Any ideas?

All the projects in https://github.com/ but you need some heavy experience, also in https://www.freecodecamp.org/ you get experience while helping nonprofits projects if you are interested in web development.

Or maybe an open hardware like arduino and raspberry pi projects catch your attention.

I also spent some time contributing with the Mozilla organization and they have a very friendly community, it is a good option too.

visit braveclojure and look for open source projects that can use help in there. definitely Clojure and a few other skills needed depending on the project.

visit whatcanido.org and walk through the prompts and go help Mozilla get back to the leading browser vendor and unseat Google chrome.

Apache has its own path for on boarding and mentoring newcomers.

as do the eclipse project, the GNU project, everything under the GNU project, and if you are brave, there are always projects like the Linux kernel through kernelnewbies.org, the various BSD systems.

goes without saying that there are projects like llvm, GCC, gdb, lldb, and so on.

each listed in this message has its own required set of skills to work on. so they have newcomer onboard process. join any. they will be thankful and so will the users of the projects.
