May be another application in your computer is using the port 80, try to close Skype and retry again.

after you install xamp go to folder where you installed it. there should be a folder called "htdoc". open it and create new name.php file. after that start apache service from xamp. go to 'http://localhost/name.php' in your browser

I changed port number in the beginning it self
