Do languages really matter?

After a while I started to wonder do programming languages really matter? I mean you can use python and java or even php for applications. And ik some things are dependent on a certain language such as java/koitln to android and swift to ios. but after that I kinda go blank for reason why they even matter. yeah c and c++ are the fastest but does that even matter in this age. idk give me your thoughts. to me I feel progranminhprogramming languages are just more personal preference😂

yes because each language has strength and weaknesses. java has cross platform compatibility and c++ are used in performance critical applications. many softwares are coded in multiple languages. languages like python and java are made using C. that includes their complier and java virtual machine.
