If you are just doing web stuff or Java, windows is fine. In Win10 we also got the Linux subsystem so you can use all your favourite linux tools like grep in windows :P

I say use Linux Mint... It's super great for beginners and advanced users, and it's powerful and pleasing to the eye but pretty light too!

Martin Taylor I'm using kali Linux past 6 months, it's a stable Linux distribution, and the gnome environment makes it smoother, Actually Kali Linux is a penetration testing distro there is much tools for penetration testing, but it won't bite you . Kali is a secure operating system. which can also used for programming. From my experience.

the difference is in linux operating system everything is COMMAND LINE MNAGEMENT... ALL U DO...U HAVE TO TYPE COMMANDS IN A CONSOLE... SO obviously yes...it has definitely a large benefit over your coding... and windows is also made from linux.. but as it is tooooo much user friendly it is used in domicial purposes... but in the coding world the base is linux still ....

with a small addition.... windows is home for viruses(basically corrupted files that can harm your system) the fun is linux dont support virus.. the safety is too high to be imagined.. to crack linus one need to manually do that in most cases...
