To program in java (the tags), you need to have an editor. Some editors I know of are eclipse, notepad, and notepad++. But to start programming, you will need to set, or create a computer variable called PATH. Let your browser search that for you for the instructions.

If you want to start learning java aside from this application I would suggest downloading the most recent jdk from oracle and then, download the IDE eclipse.
