1. Make sure to take lots of mock exams!! This will give you an idea of the type of questions to expect and practice with using your time wisely. 2. Look up more details online on any subject you do not fully understand. 3. Practice with the subjects, so you know exactly what will and will not work. 4. Consider reading multiple exam guides, as some may explain certain topics better than others. I didn't for my OCA exam, but am now for OCP! For mock exams I highly recommend Enthuware: http://enthuware.com/ They're very good and also affordable. There are other vendors out there but more expensive (and not necessarily better). Some exam guides have additional online resources; use them! https://www.selikoff.net/java-oca-8-programmer-i-study-guide/ - has flashcards, questions and mock exams. The book gives some tips on taking the exam, including trick questions, what to look out for. Finally those authors have a new book out with even more questions & mock exams: https://www.selikoff.net/jpt/ If you are using the exam guide by Ganesh & Kumar, be aware the questions in there are way easier than the actual exam. There's a guide by Sierra & Bates, which wasn't out yet when I took the exam. Heard good things about the java 7 version though. To pass OCA Java 8, I used Enthuware and the book by Boyarski & Selikoff. Also, I spent about 5 days doing 2-3 mock exams per day, and studying up on subjects I got wrong in between. That's ofcourse after having read the book, taking the questions on each chapter. If you have more time, I'd recommend taking more time between mock exams to really study/practice your least strong subjects and making sure to really understand any question you got wrong and study it's subject more before taking the next exam. Good luck!!
