Always wanted to work on a videogame but...

Coding has always been so interesting to me. I'm a very creative person and the thought of being able to do anything I desire in my fingertips is an astonishing thing! I've experimented with editors, codes and tools I've noticed programming is definitely a great career choice for me, but... Game devs struggle with their hours and pay, is it possible for me to get a good job as a software developer and satisfy my need of working on a videogame without majoring on game design... I just want some advice...

Depends on where you are willing to live. Your best bet is to create a portfolio first before you attempt to jump into the video game development pool. Create a few minor indie games for your phone and pc. You don't need to publish these just get a game created from start to finish, don't just experiment but create the game. This will do two things. Create a small portfolio of games you have created for your application, second it will help define what you like doing best in video game development. Design, Code, Art/Sound...
