Is a Computer Science degree good for possibly going into Game Programming?

If you know programming as well, I think degree doesn't matter any more.

I would have to say having a computer science degree would be good for MANY job/careers including programming.
But from personal experience it's not necessary as employers seem to value experience over qualifications.
If you do have a degree, start applying! However I would also suggest building a portfolio of code/games in order to show prospective employers that you have more than just knowledge and are actually capable of applying it.
