Where online can a beginner join with a group of programmers to help hasten and sharpen programming skills?

I am joining my voice with other beginners like myself to raise a standard where we can be able to collaborate properly as die hard programmers is the making. If you've got any idea of any great site that allows programmers to put heads together and collaborate in trying to help sharpen skills and make beginners great at programming, please share with us.
