What are the primary requirements to become a good programmer?

please answer in algorithm pattern i.e. answer in step by step manner......like first you have to do this and then go for this ans this.......

be confident.
its ok if you dont know much about computer you will learn all with time.
you should be passionate.
learn to live a life less ordinary.
dont afraid from learning.
take at least one step everyday that take you closer to your goal.
learn to use linux(it has nothing to do with it directly but gives you mindset of a programmer).
at last you dont necessarily need a degree.
