That's a really vague statement. To who? In which ways? etc... For example, you can say it's outdated, and yet most businesses are still based around it with no sign of changing their already established technology any year soon. So, if most businesses will continue using it for a long time, IS it outdated if it works as intended and isn't something in need to be transitioned out for most people? Only to the people who have other needs and want to upgrade to another technology; or to the people that were forced into that situation because they work for someone else. Point being, SQL won't be going away any year soon, so if your concern is if it'll be a waste of time to learn it, it isn't a waste of time. It's going away as quickly as gas engines are because of electric engines; you may die long before that happens.

People say lots of things. I try to remember that not everyone has an Intel Core i7 [or... pick a tech] (Could you be more specific; like, for what purpose is there a better solution?)
