Best way to implement data analysis on a company?

I started learning programming through tutorials and such. I'm advanced on Excel and solid at VBA. The company I work in stores everything on excel spreadsheets and it's chaos. I thought on creating some kind of centralized database to keep track of the processes and making it easier to do reports etc. The question is: should I learn some MS Access or should I truly learn some MySQL or something like that? How possible would it be for a novice to set an intranet web for data management?

Go MySQL way mate, I know you're good in VBA and Access looks interesting, but you did mention your plan on building web based app for intranet, so I suggest you go MySQL way, it's better for the longer run (did I say that right?). About the novice thingy, well you have already came up with an idea for centralized data, I wouldn't call that a novice decision anyway, a novice would just do as they're told and that's it. Best of luck with your intranet system mate :)
