Why is it showing "Preview is unavailable until successful build"?

Your app has mistakes. Compiler cannot compile it and you cannot preview without a build... Just correct these mistakes... Android Studio version has no connection with it in that case... Try updating sdk/libs/resources/etc... Linker cannot find a necessary part...
