Unless you're building a system, usually the combination matters more. Some manufacturers will use awesome processors (maybe for advertising reasons) then cut costs -- and quality -- by going with terrible bridge / GPU / etc. chips. That's why sites like this exist: https://www.androidbenchmark.net/ https://www.notebookcheck.net/Smartphone-Processors-Benchmark-List.149513.0.html

I hear you, and... have two devices with the same CPU ident, but one's GPU is Tegra and the other isn't. Google Play can't identify the Tegras (a developer reply) and wiped my OS several times last year...with more incompatible updates last month...mostly very kindly fixed (almost). But yeah, SoC sounds good for most cases... and I'm not saying my case is common or interesting; I just like being able to compare anyway :) Thanks for the perspective,

Exnous. their top end chip is always faster than the flagship Qualcomm although by very small margin. Apple has the best ARM processor. their bionic chip rivals an Intel mobile core i7 in geekbench. it is very sad to see how slow innovations in x86 is nowadays

mobile chips are SoCs: gpu, CPU, modem, bridges ect comes in one complete package. you get top end snapdragon then you will have both top end gpu and CPU. it's the same thing with Samsung, mediatek, and apple. there is no such thing as high end chip but low end bridges , gpu in mobile SoCs. they are not like desktop where each component are separate
