Why is the text color in css written as rgba, what is the a standing for...why not just rgb

rgb = red,green,blue
rgba = red,green,blue,alpha(transparency)

It is for opacity (the 4th parameter). It goes from 0 (full transparent) to 1. Rgb is like rgba but the opacity is set to 1 and we can't adjust it.
