lets look at it from a different perspective.
Imagine you're writing something in Microsoft word, for a line break, you press enter, so when you press enter, your cursor goes down a row and all the way to the left.
......[pressed enter]
[first the cursor comes here]
[and then, here]
so ultimately it will look like
......
| <--- your cursor.
what \n stands for is exactly the same. \n means to print a new line.
