Question about different programming languages and the pros and cons.

So i started learning python after a bit of research and it apparently being the most popular first language taught to beginners. I had never even approached coding before. Total noob. After a bit more curiosity about programming, i started seeing on here and online that a lot of languages are built with C and C++ and other so called ''lower level languages'', and that learning them first would give you a better understanding of coding in general and make it easier to learn other languages in the future. So the question is: When im done with python here and learning some over youtube or just google, what language should i then learn to understand the basics of coding better, if that makes sense?

Hey ferontwix, thanks for the reply. And why would you recommend ruby exactly over the others like javascript and c/c++?
