8 GB RAM => Android Studio (official + advanced)
Otherwise => Eclipse (faster)

Heard from many that Eclipse is generally faster compared to Android Studio, but yes, Android Studio is the official IDE for Android Development, and in terms of being "advanced", the latter should be superior. (Not that I've done any formal comparison, but it should be logical for Eclipse to come as the more lightweight IDE).

I can't recommend that anyone who wants to build a current relevant android application use Eclipse anymore. The ADT (Android Development Toolkit) for Eclipse hasn't been updated since mid 2015. I'm not even sure that it can be used to create Android applications for the more recent versions of Android, such as OREO. Maybe someone else can advise to this? I used it up until the point at which Android Studio became the official IDE. I have been using AS ever since. The speed difference is negligible depending on your computer and which emulator you are using. The emulator is much faster than it used to be and is the only area in which I have noticed any speed issues before, but now it runs much faster then when I was using Eclipse. There are a few things that are easier with either IDE so that really is a wash IMO.
