The fact that you asked this despite you being able to google it means that you want a short and simple summary, so don't blame me for the simple answer. So here goes.... JavaScript is a programming language. It is similar/like C++ and java, as they nearly have the same syntax and Standard Library(aka functions/commands). JavaScript is most commenly used in web-developing, one example in SoloLearn is in the code playground for HTML(where you can use JavaScript along with HTML to do web-programming). It also can be used in non-web based developing such as PDF files or desktop widgets/systems. JavaScript is a pretty commen and famous programming language due to it being able to do web developing, alongside with C++.
