Programming language is used for command the computer to work like programmer orders it's need compiler, the markup language is web language like HTML, the script language need interpreter to show the results

Think of marking up of paper.. a mark up language will involve instructions of text processing, or it will define a text or part of a document and will describe somehow that how that text or document parts should be treated.
Programming language is the one which can do calculations, can take up instructions and conditions and act upon the logic and instruction given by the programmer accordingly.
