I do not completely agree.

While there are a few basic things that should be common knowledge (sending an email, buying a plane ticket online, how to avoid scams, the dangers of social networks, etc...) some things should be more widely known than how to program. How to vote, do taxes, and get medical insurance; basic knowledge of modern history and current geopolitics; etc...
