What is the difference between front-end and back-end applications?

I heard lot of people says that, we are all working in front end ..and back end too. actually what are all the programming stuffs we can categorise under front-end and back-end..could anyone please explain this clearly

Simple.

Front-End = The stuff you literally see for yourself the HTML structure, CSS styling would all be Front-End.

Back-End = Would be server side code; the stuff you don’t see, which allows your webpages to communicate with servers to translate data across them, usually languages such as PHP, SQL etc;
