I recommend you to start with Ruby or Python because these are high-level and user friendly languages. Otherwise, if you want to do Web - developpement start with HTML (it is not a programming language but you'll need it),then CSS (it isn't a programming language either) and finnaly Javascript (some say it is a programming language some others say it's just a scripting language) then if you want JQuery.

Keshav carpenter Welcome! To get started I recommend Python as it is the most beginner friendly and then if you like it explore other languages to see what your favorite is almost like choosing a favorite class in an rpg.

I learned java to start and that is the language that most teachers will have their students learn. But If you want instant gradification maybe python

Stick to one course at a time. You'll learn better. Do you mean you're doing Java Enterprise Edition in 2019? If so, SL keep in mind SL teaches Standard Edition 8. Your exam may be 9. I don't know much about EE. For computer science (not basic crap like compTIA), you'll learn a language anyway. It will likely be C, C++, or both (programming is needed to illustrate concepts), but who knows. Just stick to one language now. C would be best, but there's still no course on SL. You could try the unofficial course or C++ or another place. There are many free C books.

JavaScript is a programming language. It is interpreted, but so is Python. I agree on HTML/CSS, they are not programming languages. But anyone who says JS is not a programming language would need to concede the same of Basic and Python (among others), too.
