What happens in a challenge?

I’ve never challenged anybody and I’ve never been challenged. I’m scared of what the challenge is. Can someone explain to me how it works or perhaps give me an example? Thanks!

You and your opponent get the same 5 questions related to a language, the goal is to get more questions correct than the opponent, you gain XP from winning but lose XP when you lose the challenge.

What TurtleShell said and the questions are timed. Not sure how many seconds but most of the time enough to answer though.
