Well exponentation is multiplicating a number by itself a certain amount of times, some examples:
2 ** 2 = 2 * 2 = 4
2 ** 3 = 2 * 2 * 2 = 8
5 ** 3 = 5 * 5 * 5 = 125
10 ** 2 = 10 * 10 = 100
1 ** 5 = 1 * 1 * 1 * 1 * 1 = 1
7 ** 2 = 7 * 7 = 49
-5 ** 2 = -5 * (-5) = 25

Black Hat You are correct, However that says -5 to the power of positive 2 so -5**+2 = -25. Wouldn't you agree that -5**-2 would equal +25 instead?

If you run -5**2 in Python it equals -25

(-5)^2 does not equal -5^2 because in the first you are raising the whole thing to the power of 2 and in the second you are raising only the 5 to the power of 2 and then making it negative
