How much useful is swing, awt and graphics in Java?

Are these useful to learn? Are they still being used?

As per the latest technologies, people have been doing away with making GUI's based in java old components as you've listed, so I would prefer using javafx components because it uses material design components which are beautiful and modern, plus they are lighter than swing and awt.
