I would recommend starting from learning advanced analytics, utilizing machine learning algorithms in data analysis. I have recently switch my career from marketing, too, so I can get your feeling ;)

Well I am also in marketing but when I first began work after college thus about 8ys.. I also decided to teach myself programming.. I learnt web development and also a few other languages.. I have several works so far. It gets difficult cos of time and barely gives me time to rest. Am also considering stopping the marketing job and taking on IT full time. In my part of the world.. The trending and the most rewarding aspects of computing lies in Web, mobile app and software development as against machine learning and data analysis. Python, php, java and c#. Take a pick
