Can we call string an array of characters in java?

Theorycally you can see in this way but practically its not true... You can edit an array item but not an string char (because strings are immutable). Futhermore String its an class that implement many methods useful to manipulate itself

It's called CharSequence sometimes. You can convert one into an array using theString.split("")
