Game Development skill Requirememts?

Question

How hard is game development? beside rendering, graphics design and other, which languages are used to design games?(I know specific languages are used for specific engines but I would like to know which helps the best)

two main engines are unreal and unity. unreal's main language is c++ and unity's is c# so either is a good place to start.
