What language is commonly used when programming for video games?

I'm a beginner to coding, but I'm not unfamiliar with some methods and techniques used to code (previously did an HTML course) and I was wondering what language should I start with if i want to be coding for video games.

C++ and C# both have corresponding game engine, unity and unreal.
