Jingga Sona 🐺 [ON PROJECT] In conclusion, unless you accidentally installed a third-party Angela app which has been tampered with, I can't see how what you described can be achievable. Maybe I'm not thinking hard enough, but that's for good reasons. If you Google Angela, you can read up on the multiple internet personal info hoax about the app, and some creepypasta sounding articles about Angela chatting at 3a.m. These are hoaxes which have been debunked over and over again. Reading the documentation provided by Outfit7 (dev team which produced Angela), the app even has a child mode which disallows Angela to query your age, location, and other information, making the second option in my previous reply invalid. In short, unless you really want to get yourself in trouble and install some modded Angela app, the original app provided by Outfit7 on recognized app stores are safe.

I don't see the slightest bit of motivation for a hacker to do so, and no, mobile applications do not launch themselves, not without sufficient permissions from the user.

That would be a very, very inefficient way of stealing personal data.

Hatsy Rei if that is not possible, do you have any idea how the hacker(s) do that?

Jingga Sona 🐺 [ON PROJECT] Well, In terms of hijacking a chat, there are many ways to do it. Phishing sounds like an easy way, where you lure your victim into installing a version of Angela which you tampered with, causing the original app to be replaced by your version. It is then possible to remotely launch your app from your server. Go figure. If phishing isn't used, things get more complicated. It's not possible to hijack the "chat" with Angela because it really isn't a chat. You are not talking to another individual over the line. It's a chatterbot, a program receiving input and producing a corresponding output, causing the log to appear like a conversation. What a hacker can do, is to somehow, retrieve the chat log from the local database, and then scan through the records to find numbers, personal information. Outfit7 and mobile platforms themselves have security patches, so this isn't really an option.
