How do front and back end developers collaborate in practice?

Hi, I have been learning Python and reading up on the Django framework but in order to better understand how everything works I end up learning about some front end technologies as well. This got me thinking about what the integration process is for front and back end code in the real world and what if any knowledge overlap is expected from each role. Please share any experiences relating to the question in the title - thank you!

Mostly depends buddy, in my experience my friends do brainstorming on much different things. some seems interesting, some do not...
Then you will have to take actions according to the idea that what you are going to use in the project...

For example:
Varie-s in quantity, PHP.
More quality and security, nodejs
And so on ...
